Legal Status
November 26, 2002, Ministry of Education Recognizes Southern University and its curriculum. On January 2003 Ministry of Education(MoE) approved Southern University Bangladesh as a private University located in, Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Ministry of Education (MoE)
Ministry of Education is the apex policy making the institution of the Government of Bangladesh. MoE formulates policies and programs for the development of post-primary to higher education in Bangladesh.
University Grants Commission (UGC)
The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh is the statutory apex body in the field of higher education in Bangladesh. The primary objectives of the UGC are to supervise, maintain, promote, and coordinate university education. It is also responsible for maintaining standards and quality in all the public and private universities in Bangladesh
Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB)
The Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB) is an Autonomous Organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The PCB is considered as the controlling authority of pharmacy education and practice in Bangladesh. The Main objective of the PCB is to regulate the practice of Pharmacy throughout Bangladesh.
Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN)
Southern University is an Institutional Member of The Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN). APQN has been developed with the purpose of serving the needs of quality assurance agencies in higher education in a region that contains over half the world’s population. Its mission is “to enhance the quality of higher education in Asia and the Pacific region through strengthening the work of quality assurance agencies and extending the cooperation between them.
Association of Management Development Institutions of South Asia (AMDISA)
AMDISA is a regional network, and professional association, and is a SAARC-recognized body with the purpose of helping ensure continuous improvement in the quality of management education and management development. The association caters to faculty and institutional development needs of its members.
United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI)
UNAI is a global initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in furthering the realization of intellectual social responsibility and promoting the Millennium Development Goals. Members are expected to further policies and programs, including undertaking one new activity each year, including research projects and papers, the hosting of a conference, the financing of participation of students in a specific United Nations activity in the field, or a specific action or activity on campus.
European Association for International Education(EAIE)
The EAIE is the European center for expertise, networking, and resources in the internationalization of higher education. A non-profit, member-led organization serving individuals actively involved in the internationalization of their institutions.
Principles for Responsible Management Education( PRME)
The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative is the first organized relationship between the United Nations and business schools. PRME is to inspire and champion responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally.
International Association of Universities(IAU)
UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions. It brings together institutions and organizations from some 120 countries for reflection and action on common concerns and collaborates with various international, regional and national bodies active in higher education.
The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) is the most prestigious Engineering Professional Organization of the country. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act of the country. IEB includes all disciplines of engineering. Southern University first and only IEB accredited University in Civil Engineering.
